When I was putting a soaker hose around the cedar tree this morning, a red throated hummingbird hovered close to me, then perched on a twig about six feet away from me.
He sat there for at least 45 seconds, maybe a full minute. He extended his tongue, and I got a really good look at it. We just had a moment together.
I am beyond tired today. I'm crabby, and my neck is killing me, so seeing him helped lift my spirits.
Hummingbird, you are my gift today. Thank you.
No matter how bad your day is,
or how busy you are,
take a moment to notice something
that is delightful . . .
happily unusual . . .
. . . a little gift from the day to you.
